Is it true that we are Selfish?

Is it true that we are Selfish?...

I have a garden and many birds come to my garden. I give them water to drink on a pot and through some food stuffs for them to eat... The birds enjoy very much at my garden and we too enjoy by watching their activities... Bird like cuckoo, parrots, pigeons, doves, wild crows, little birds, crane and variety of birds come to my garden... 

One day I wanted to take one Guava from my garden... I had not marked that some of the parrots were eating guava on that tree...While plucking one guava on that tree one of the parrots shouted at me and said "Hey Hello... Don't try to steal my food from my home...I hate gate-crashers...Get out from my home"... 

I replied, "Hello Mr. Parrot... I think it’s my garden and it’s my goodness that you are getting a chance to take shelter..." 

The parrot made me criticized and said, "You fool it’s not your garden...It was ours’ one day... We animals, birds, reptiles etc were gave you a chance to live at here... The trees and plants had given you chance to live, they provided you shelter...You cut them and prepared your shelter... We were not cruel like human being...So we don't want to fight with you... It was a Jungle previously and you all human are selfish... You made your own shelter by destroying our shelter..." 

I felt ashamed and said to the parrot, "Hey Mr. Parrot why you are not going to jungle...I think it’s the better shelter for you all of you"... The parrot shouted at me, "You fool…where is jungle?... You human being cut the precious trees and plants and have started industries... Even you human being forgotten about your humanity...You say that trees and plants are your best friends, but actually you are using them for fulfilling your dreams and expectations... Have any human being plant a tree without any expectations? Just say me clearly... I can guess you can't... You all human are selfish… You plant them with expectations and when your expectations are fulfilled you just cut them… You human are not suitable for any relationship with us…" 

I was speechless at that time... Every word said by that little parrot penetrates my heart and wet my eyes… I was thinking that, “Human beings are so selfish and cruel… Even I am so selfish too… “ 

Suddenly my mother shouted at me..."Soumya.... wake up... it’s too late..."I was astonished and said to my mother, "What happened?... Why you are shouting?..."

My mother said to me, "Its already 8AM... Wake up son… You have to go for taking your classes"I replied to my mother, “Ohh I am getting late… Mother I want to say you something…”My mother replied, “Yes, what happen dear?...” 

I replied, “Is we all are Selfish?...

”My mother smiled at me, “I can guess you are dreaming something…Yes tell me in detail...” 

I could guess I was dreaming... But the fact behind my dream gives me some message to human being..."We should try to care and love the flora and fauna...We human being are going to be more selfish day by day...As I think Human are the best creation by the god and the god itself has given us the power to utilize... But we human are not utilizing it properly... When there is power there is more responsibility...So we must be responsible for taking care of flora and fauna... That we really have to...."
